Jacquie knew she wanted to be an artist since she was in second grade. She always drew pictures and wrote stories. As a teenager she worked in the children's book section of the Teaneck Public Library, and realized that making children's books would be the perfect way to combine her love of writing and drawing.

She published her first book, "That Man Is Talking to His Toes" when
she was 26. Since then she has been making books, drawing, painting, teaching (at Parsons School of Design, The New School Writing Program, and Media Bistro), lecturing, and holding private workshops. She has been drawing her comic strip, "Little Jacquie", since 2011.

She lives in New York City and Woodstock, NY with her husband,
Jeff Byrd, a director of photography. She has a son Adam, and a
daughter Maya, who both live in California. She is a fourth degree black belt in tae kwon do. She gets her energy to do all these things by eating lots of chocolate (the dark kind of course!)
